During your complimentary consultation, a board-certified cosmetic surgeon will discuss your concerns and evaluate the current state of your neck to create a tailor-made surgical plan that addresses your unique aesthetic preferences.

The location of the incisions, extent of the procedure, and surgical approach will be customized based on your specific case and anatomical features. Options include:

Traditional neck lift: the traditional or classic neck lift involves making an incision below the ear, traveling down around the ear and under the hairline behind the neck. This allows your surgeon to remove excess skin and tighten the neck muscles while hiding the scars inconspicuously within the hair and back of the neck. If you need liposuction, a small incision below the neck may also be required.

Mini neck lift: a mini neck lift will not provide the same dramatic results as a full neck lift, but it is a good option for younger patients with mild vertical banding and sagging. It also involves incisions behind the ears and/or the chin, but the scars will be shorter and the recovery time faster.

Recovering From A Neck Lift

Your Dr. Patty Miami surgical team will provide you with a customized recovery plan. In general, this is what you can expect from your neck lift surgery recovery.

Immediately After

Immediately following your surgery, you’ll have the opportunity to rest at our soothing recovery suite until you are ready to go home. Your neck and lower face area may be wrapped with a light compression garment or elastic bandages to promote healing and reduce swelling. Avoid all types of physical activity immediately after your procedure.

1 Week

Depending on the extent of your correction, you may be able to go back to work and your routine activities as soon as one week after your neck lifting surgery. It’s common to experience minor swelling and discomfort during the first week of recovery, which can be addressed with prescription medication. Continue avoiding strenuous activities, including lifting and bending for at least 3 weeks.

2-3 Weeks

Most of the swelling and discomfort should have subsided by now. You may resume non-strenuous activities 3 weeks after your procedure unless your doctor recommends otherwise.

1+ Months

You may feel well enough to go back to your normal activities, including upper body workouts. The complete results of your neck lift surgery may not be fully apparent until about 3 months have passed, but you will start to see significant improvements within the first week after your procedure.
